Harvest 2013

Harvest 2013

The first day of Harvest 2013 started on the 11th of October with our ten year old Pinot Noir vines. These were our ripest grapes from the vineyard, which once pressed that afternoon proved to produce the perfect colour for our Rose

We moved onto our 5 year old Pinot Noir vines next. We were picking 6 tonnes of fruit each day; this meant that we had enough grapes for 3 press loads per day. Each press load taking around 4 hours to complete the cycle, empty, clean and refill with the next load of grapes.

Moving on to our small 1.2 acre plot of Pinot Meunier, which was completed in half a day. leaving us enough time to get a press load of chardonnay in the afternoon of the 18th of October. We had the Saturday off from picking. Allowing us to clean up the winery, ready for the swap over from red grapes to white. The last day of harvest was the 20th of October, where 20 people picked the last of our Chardonnay grapes.

The total area of vines in production is 7.5 hectares (18.525 acres) where in 7 days we harvested a total of 41.4 tonnes of grapes.
