WELCOME TO OUR FIRST EVER VINTAGE SPARKLING WINES

Posted on

It has happened – Exton Park has produced another baby! This time, one with a definitive birth year – 2011 – and distinctive parentage – 100% Chardonnay from the oldest plot in the vineyard, the pure chalk terroir at the top of the hill.

We announced the arrival of our Blanc de Blanc 2011, and also its baby sister Rose Vintage 2011, at a special tasting and lunch held at the modern British Quo Vadis restaurant in Dean Street, London last month, and attended by sparkling wine commentators, journalists and sommeliers.

Winemaker Corinne Seely was in her element – presenting her new wines with her usual enthusiasm, and explaining how special they really were. Made in an exceptional year for English wine, these two Vintages were the very first wines she made at Exton Park, coming as they did from the oldest vines and the ones to be picked earlier. The brand new winery – built to her specifications – was finished just in time for the harvest.

Corinne also explained the background to her policy of reserving most of the wines each harvest for her non-vintage cuvees, so that they can be relied upon to taste the same year after year. But every now and then, there is a Very Special harvest, when the weather is right, the grapes are perfect – and a true Vintage wine can be made. And kept for years to mature in our cellars before releasing it onto the market

Just 2500 bottles of the Blanc de Blanc 2011 were made – and even fewer bottles (700) of the Rose Vintage 2011. If you want to snap one up now, in their stylish gift packs, visit the Shop section on the website, or check out our list of stockists.
